Beaches of Los Cabos

Los Cabos is a natural paradise. By taking only pictures and leaving only footprints, you'll help preserve one of the world's most pristine vacation spots. With hundreds of miles of spectacular shoreline, Baja beaches have something for everyone.

Lover's Beach

Hidden behind the world-renowned arch at Land's End, this photogenic wonder feels delightfully remote. Surrounded by smooth, towering rock walls with the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez on each side. Great swimming and snorkeling. For access, take a water taxi from the Marina.

Medano Beach

This is Cabo's main beach. In the high season it is packed with sun and fun worshippers. The swimming here is very safe for families, and all types of watersport equipment can be rented. Casual restaurant-bars along the sand featuring fresh seafood, Mexican favorites and long happy hours.

Widow's Beach

This little known beach is an insider favorite located on the west side of the Twin Dolphin Hotel. Plenty of pristine sands and rock formations. Also suitable for families with children, who will love the tidal pools teeming with marine life.

Santa Maria Bay

Excellent family swimming and snorkeling, or just relaxing. Small horseshoe-shaped bay, surrounded by craggy cliffs. A protected marine sanctuary, making for very interesting snorkeling.

Chileno Bay

One of the few Los Cabos beaches with services, and our choice for best beach, it's great for all levels of snorkelers and divers. The dive shop rents water sports equipment and sells cold beverages and bottled water. Chileno offers exceptional swimming, snorkeling and diving along the reef near the beach.

Tequila Cove at Cabo Real

Along the Corridor, the Cabo Real Resort has miles of desirable beaches. Tequila Cove fronts the Melia Cabo Real and Hilton hotels. A man-made breakwater makes for good swimming and watersports. Rentals are right on the beach.

Palmilla Bay

Beautiful Palmilla Bay is a long, crescent-shaped bay perfect for swimming. This fabulous beach is highly recommended for families.

Insider Tips

beach chairMost beaches have no services. Bring water, snacks, a beach umbrella, snorkeling gear, hats, cover-ups, tissue, a garbage bag and sunscreen. Mornings are best for swimming and snorkeling. Nights are cool from December to March, so take along a light jacket for sunset strolls. Don't take valuables to the beach, and keep rental cars locked.

Lifeguards are scarce in Los Cabos. Most beach resorts use a flag system to indicate water conditions. Never turn your back on the surf, especially when on the Pacific Ocean side of Los Cabos, where rogue waves and undertows are common. Do not swim on these beaches. The Sea of Cortez is far more suited to swimming and family fun.
