Kayaking

One of the most popular water sports in all of Baja is kayaking. Ocean kayakers can cruise to all kinds of lesser known rocky coves which are difficult to reach from the main road and too confining for larger boats. The waters are generally calm along the Sea of Cortez coastline, making conditions perfect for the sport of kayaking.

On the Pacific side, kayakers use Puerto Lopez Mateos as a base for trips into the Magdalena lagoons for whale-watching expeditions. El Medano Beach (the main beach of Cabo San Lucas) is the place to go to rent water sports equipment. A variety of equipment, including jet-skis, may be rented. Half day or full day rentals are available.

Sailing Tours

There are several types of sailing tours offered in Los Cabos, from snorkel/sail tours to sunset/booze cruises. Departures are daily from the marina.

Parasailing

Parasailing occurs daily from several vendors off the main public beach area.

Surfing & Windsurfing

The best waves for surfers can be found at Costa Azul, especially during the months between June and October. Some of the surfing hotspots that have been reported are Punta Rosarita, Punta San Carlos, Punta Pequena, and Islas Todos Santos.

One sport that has quickly gained popularity around the Baja Peninsula is windsurfing. The most ideal place for windsurfing is 45 miles north of Los Cabos airport at Los Barriles. In the winter months 15-30 knot northerly winds are quite common along the Sea of Cortez coast, just right for the sport of windsurfing. The main beach area in Cabo San Lucas offers body surfing waves and afternoon winds. Also, all types of equipment for water sports can be rented there.
